Owing to the nature of old houses they are high maintenance. Annesbrook is no exception. The major restoration project at the moment is the Georgian Banqueting Hall.

The room was originally built in honor of the Prince Regent (later George IV). Owing to the hurried nature of the construction the room's foundations sank. Over time his has resulted in the need for complete refurbishment of the room.

So far in the restoration the roof has been replaced. However there is still much more to do. The highly decorated ceiling needs restoration as does the floor and fire place.

These photos show the expert craftsman ship that is required to restore a room such as this. The roof restoration was done by Mr George O'Malley who specializes in restoration of old buildings.

The roof had to be completely replaced as the joists were rotten through and in danger of collapse.

While the roof was being replaced the suspended ceiling needed to be supported. Wooden supports and scaffolding were used to help hold it up. Mettle pins drilled through were also used to help in it's support.
